Simon son of Jonah, you are a happy man! Because it was not flesh and blood that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven.

Observation

Even Peter (especially Peter?) could not know who Jesus was without divine revelation.

Application

It is hard for so many people in the world today to recognise Jesus. To the extent that I do it is not just because of my own efforts, but because God has helped me by revealing the truth to me.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for revealing yourself to me. Help me to do what I can to help other people see you. I am no more worthy than anyone else for this grace, and I want others to have the chance to know the joy of knowing you. Amen.
