Scripture

His commandments are these:

that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ

and that we love one another

as he told us to.

Whoever keeps his commandments

lives in God and God lives in him.

Observation

This is the core of Christianity, not just that we are nice to people or even loving, but that we also believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and we love people regardless of our feeling and how nice they are.

Application

I don't always manage to put my feelings aside. Sometimes I am frustrated or angry at people who need my help. That's the time I need to believe in Jesus and that He can give me the grace I need to truly love my neighbour.

Prayer

Jesus, help me when I struggle to love people as I should. Act through me when I am unable to love and forgive as I should. Amen.
