Thursday of the 1st Week of Ordinary Time 2022

Scripture Mark 1:40-45

A leper came to Jesus and pleaded on his knees 'If you want to' he said 'you can cure me'. Feeling sorry for him, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him. 'Of course I want to!' he said 'Be cured!' And the leprosy left him at once and he was cured.

Observation

Here's a prayer that doesn't actually ask for anything but places trust in God. That trust is rewarded though, because of Jesus' love for us. He wants us to be healed, to be our best selves to live our best lives.

Application

Can I trust God as fully as the leper in the Gospel? Can I trust that God will heal me if I just give Him the chance? Understand that God wants what's best for me even when I don't know myself what that is?

Prayer

Lord, help me to trust you with my life, to know your love for me and to know that you want to heal me even if I don't ask it of you.
